Training Practice

Williamwood Medical Practice has been accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners as a GP Training Practice. This means we will have GP specialty trainees working with us. These are fully qualified doctors who have had at least 3 years postgraduate hospital training already. They spend time with us learning about General Practice as a specialty and undertaking assessments to qualify as an independent General Practitioner.  As part of their training, they are assessed by their Supervisor sitting in during the consultation, or from time to time consultations are video recorded for training purposes. This recording should only happen with the written consent of patients. This is only for use within the practice as a training tool. The recorded consultations are stored safely or encrypted when awaiting review and erased once viewed. If, however, you do not feel comfortable participating in recording when asked, please feel free to decline.

We also support Medical Students from the University of Glasgow who spend time in the practice as part of their undergraduate training. You should always be asked at the point of booking if you give permission for a medical student to sit in during your appointment and you are free to decline this if you prefer.

The partners have responsibility for assisting all doctors working with them to gain experience in General Practice and provide them with high quality training. We are very grateful for your support in helping us train the GPs of the future, thank you.
